Training to be godly?

Yesterday I shared a scripture verse from 1 Timothy 4:7-8 which encouraged you to "train yourself to be godly". What does that mean? What does it look like to be godly? First thing I picture is a little old church lady or a regal minister- neither I can relate to. So what does "training to be godly" look like in my life? It means living an authentic, real & sometimes messy life with God as my leader. Chasing after His PRs, striving for His medals & focusing on His finish line.

So how about you- what do you think godliness looks like? How are you "training to be godly"? Please share your thoughts.

  1. In the book of Hebrews it talks about fixing our eyes on God. If we fix our eyes on Christ, and don't be distracted by the tings of this world, we are going to grow, and train to be godly.

    1. Only by fixing our eyes on Christ can we even attempt to get it right. So many things compete for our attention- so important to get with God daily so we can stay on the right path. Thanks for your posting!

  2. For me training to be Godly means doing my best to live blamelessly before God and to therefore walk in obedience. But I also need to walk in his grace when I fail to do that...and to live transparently in front of my sisters and brothers in Christ through that process.
